RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA TV) - You were able to get a fresh new ‘do’ for the upcoming holidays and give back to the community at the same time. Headlines Academy held its 21st annual Cut-A-Thon, Dec. 6th.

For a canned food or monetary donation, customers were able to choose from a variety of discounted services from haircuts to massages.

All the proceeds from the event went directly towards area food banks. Domino’s Pizza and Starbucks also got in the mix and donated their products to the academy to sell to their customers. With this event going on for so many years, keeping things new and exciting every year can be a challenge.

"It keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Students and staff keep coming up with more and more ideas with different things to do, like the bake sale,” said Peggy Sproat, Owner of Headlines Academy. “So, it gets really exciting it's fun to have our public and our community that's really getting involved in that."
