Kayleigh Schmidt joined the KOTA Territory team as the morning and noon anchor in March 2018.
Prior to KOTA, Kayleigh worked as the Aberdeen Bureau reporter for KSFY News based out of Sioux Falls.
She was born in Willmar, M.N. and had the opportunity to travel the country and overseas when her mother joined the Air Force. She moved to Rapid City in 2006 and stayed after her mother retired.
Kayleigh attended New Underwood High School for three years and moved to Stevens High School for her senior year. Following high school graduation, she attended South Dakota State University.
At SDSU, Kayleigh didn't major in broadcast journalism until the end of her sophomore year. For one semester, she took part in producing, anchoring and reporting for the Jacks Weekly Report. She took an internship at KSFY in Sioux Falls in the spring of 2016.
She loves all things winter, horror films/books, and Minnesota. The Washington Capitals, Minnesota Wild, Twins and Vikings tend to keep Kayleigh's attention year round, but she enjoys finding that perfect concert or hiking trail no matter the distance.
