Miranda O'Bryan joined KOTA Territory News and KEVN Black Hills Fox in June 2020 as a multimedia journalist and has since grown into anchoring roles as well.
A South Dakotan through and through, Miranda is from Martin; and has spent lots of time in the Black Hills throughout her life. She graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and history.
After two months of being undecided and doing lots of thinking, Miranda decided to major in journalism and history. She quickly fell in love with her journalism classes and focused her future on a career in broadcast. Her choice came about from conversations with those close to her, amazing faculty, and the desire to tell people's stories. She also likes to tell people that being a journalist is the perfect job for her because she gets to try something new everyday; one day she can be a doctor and the next she can be a rancher, all while sharing their story with the world.
The summer between her sophomore and junior years of college, Miranda interned with and had a part-time reporter job for KOTA Territory News and KEVN Black Hills Fox. Also during her time at SDSU; Miranda anchored, wrote and produced for Jacks News and produced and directed a documentary, Day in the Life: Freeman, SD, highlighting the day to day life of a small town here in South Dakota.
During her time as a student, Miranda was nominated for the Upper Midwest Emmy Student Production Award and was involved in various clubs and organizations such as Alpha Xi Delta and the Miss America Organization. Miranda is a current local title holder for the Miss South Dakota Organization where she promotes her social impact initiative, Page Turners:Fall in Love with Reading, across the state.
Outside of work, Miranda loves to bake, hang out with her kitty Jericho, sing in the car, eat lots of Sushi, watch movies and travel whenever she can.
