Rep. Johnson praises decision of Ellsworth as home of B-21
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Many South Dakotans, including the state’s congressional delegation, are welcoming the news of Ellsworth Air Force Base becoming the home of the B-21 bomber.
The U.S. Air Force is planning to place over 100 stealth bombers at bases across the nation. The delegation has long pushed for Ellsworth to become the official home of the B-21, which will soon be tested by the Air Force.
Representative Dusty Johnson said that he was ecstatic to hear the news on Wednesday and says this is a big win for South Dakota, and the United States.
”This B-21 is going to be the most advanced piece of machinery that any military has ever deployed,” Johnson said. “It’s going to keep the world safer. Having South Dakota be the home for it, that should be a great be a great source of pride and will be a great source of economic vitality for this area for a long time.”
The bomber is expected to double the size of the base’s personnel once it arrives.
