Hickok’s Hotel and Suites under new partners

DEADWOOD, S.D. (KOTA) - As we ring in the New Year, an iconic Deadwood hotel and casino is under new management.

Marc Oswald, the CEO of Oswald Entertainment, along with other partners, purchased Hickok’s Hotel and Suites in Downtown Deadwood.

Oswald says he has been involved in Deadwood for almost 20 years, and is excited to bring new energy to the hotel, which is located right across the street from Outlaw Square.

The hotel partnered with Slowey Management from Yankton for the deal, and Oswald said conversations about the acquisition started back in August.

“And I just felt like any time you can partner in with people of that caliber, you got to do it, especially in Deadwood because Deadwood is a very, very special town, as everybody knows,” said Oswald.

Regarding future plans, Oswald said he can only plan about 12 hours in advance because of the New Year’s Eve activities in Deadwood. A ball will drop at Midnight from the Franklin Hotel, located across the street from Outlaw Square, with entertainment from the Flaunt Girls.
