Whoever asked for a white Christmas got their wish! Of course, we could have done without the wind making holiday travel a mess.  Anyway, thanks to our KOTA TV News fans for sending in some photos.

Spearfish Canyon Fall Colors 2014

The weekend of Sept. 20-21 saw the fall colors in Spearfish Canyon at about 75 percent; with a lot of autumn gold, some reds and yellows. Last year, the Oct. 4 blizzard ruined the colors before they peaked. While this year will be different, you can still see damage from that storm.

Eric Gardner, Good Morning KOTA Territory/Noon News Meteorologist

Eric Gardner joined the KOTA news team in December of 2002 as a morning and noon meteorologist and news anchor. After a stint as the nightside main anchor, Eric returns to sunrise as the Good Morning KOTA Territory meteorologist.

Although the snow has ended, the cold air is here to stay awhile. In fact, it will be getting much colder early next week as a frigid arctic airmass plunges south out of Canada. Below zero lows should be expected Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

But the frigid air may not hang around too long - there are signs temperatures could moderate by the end of next week.
