Spearfish Canyon Fall Colors 2014

The weekend of Sept. 20-21 saw the fall colors in Spearfish Canyon at about 75 percent; with a lot of autumn gold, some reds and yellows. Last year, the Oct. 4 blizzard ruined the colors before they peaked. While this year will be different, you can still see damage from that storm.

Arthur weakens to tropical storm

Hurricane Arthur landfall

Hurricane Arthur made landfall in North Carolina late on July 3, but it did not dawdle over the coastline to vandalize neighborhoods for long. By Friday morning, it had weakened to a Category 1 and was downgraded to a tropical storm on Saturday.

I hope you enjoyed today. Major changes in our forecast Cold front comes through tonight, rain/snow mix with strong winds will be occurring tomorrow. Winds will begin to ease back up Monday night into Tuesday morning. This is when the snow will also begin to come to an end.

The northern Black Hills could see as much as 6"-12"+ of snow.

Rapid City expect less than 2" of snow.

Warmer Christmas Eve, then another shot at some snow for Christmas day.
