Spearfish Canyon Fall Colors 2014

The weekend of Sept. 20-21 saw the fall colors in Spearfish Canyon at about 75 percent; with a lot of autumn gold, some reds and yellows. Last year, the Oct. 4 blizzard ruined the colors before they peaked. While this year will be different, you can still see damage from that storm.

Weather Forecast

A weakening upper level low will spread clouds and isolated showers and thunderstorms across KOTA Territory today and Tuesday. But due to a lack of moisture, only spotty precipitation is expected.

The middle and end of the week will be unseasonably warm as a strong, more July-like upper level ridge of high pressure builds over the northern plains.

A stronger storm system moves into the area this weekend, bringing scattered showers and cooler temperatures.
