TV News Internships available

Posted: Updated:

KOTA Territory News is looking for a few outstanding interns.  Preference will be given to seniors, but we will accept exceptional juniors who are bound for careers in broadcast/digital journalism.  We will take applications until the positions are filled.

The best candidates will be able to demonstrate these requirements:

  • Strong training in reporting;
  • Strong writing skills - including grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • Skills in broadcast journalism (shooting video and editing video) along with skills in online reporting and digital media;
  • Print journalism would be an acceptable substitute for online training or experience.

The internship can be customized to meet the student's needs in terms of length of internship and work schedule.

Interns are exposed to all facets of television broadcast news including reporting, writing, videography, and non-linear editing.  The intern will also receive training and experience in online news gathering and publishing.

The student must be able to register for college course credit. An internship can be scheduled for the summer, fall, or winter term.

Opportunities are available in Rapid City. Internships in our Spearfish, SD or Sheridan, WY bureau facilities would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
