Search for Butte County flood victim resumes

The search for a woman who went missing in the Butte County flooding will resume. Deputies say they are viewing it as a recovery effort.

Kristen Lakin, 24, went missing in June when the SUV she was in got swept up in flood waters. Lakin was traveling with 57-year-old Roxanne Bleibaum. Bleibaum was rescued a day after the storm.

Butte County Deputy Sheriff Tristan Clements says they haven't had anybody up in the area for days, and they hope to search again in the near future. "We are looking at the possibility of taking another group of cadaver dogs. And the concentration at that point and time will be large debris piles located along the Moreau River and the Battle Creek River bottom area," Clements said.

Efforts to find Lakin have included dive teams, crews on ATVs and helicopter searches.
