Kinskey sworn in to finish Schiffer's Senate term

Posted: Updated:

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Dave Kinskey has been sworn in to the Wyoming Senate to replace the late John Schiffer.

Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice James Burke administered the oath of office Tuesday morning at the Wyoming Capitol.

Kinskey has been mayor of Sheridan and was among three finalists selected for the job by Republicans in Sheridan and Johnson counties.

The commissioners of those two counties appointed Kinskey to the open Senate seat on July 7. Kinskey will serve out the remainder of Schiffer's term, which runs through 2016.

The Wyoming Legislative Service Office says Kinskey will serve on the Senate Judiciary and Senate Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs committees.

Schiffer died June 19 following a brief illness.
