Rapid City Police Chief Jegeris lays out law enforcement plan

Rapid city's new police chief Karl Jegeris is laying out his plan for the future of law enforcement.

The police department is going through a restructuring. Chief Jegeris is eliminating the assistance chief position and appointing three captains to head up each major department.

And after a summer of major incidents that required law enforcement intervention like a murder, officer involved shooting, drug raids and a stand off, the chief says they are prepared for what the rest of summer has in store. "Looking forward to the future we're almost to the halfway point of the summer if the second half of the summer is as busy as the first half of the summer, I can tell you we are all hands on deck," said Chief Jegeris.

The chief says that officers will also be focusing more on traffic enforcement, he reminds us to watch the speed limit.
