ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) _ A South Dakota native is about become the youngest person to fly around the world by himself.
The Aberdeen American News reports that 19-year-old Matthew Guthmiller is expected to finish circumnavigating the globe late Sunday night.
Guthmiller embarked from California May 27. He will end his trip with a final flight from Hawaii to El Cajon, California.
Guthmiller planned to make 20 stops in 13 countries on five continents in an attempt to become the youngest pilot to circle the globe alone.
The Aberdeen native is a sophomore at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His flight will help raise money for Code.org
, a non-profit website that helps teach people about computer coding.
