Black Hills Pride Festival kicks off with a rally

Celebrating a movement.
That's what organizers say the gay pride festival July 11,12, and 13 is all about.

The annual Black Hills Pride Festival kicked off Friday with a rally. The rally recaptured musicians and speakers and it started a weekend-long event list. That includes a festival, burlesque show, and a Sunday morning worship service.

David Patton, Black Hills Center for Equality president, says he expects 1,000 people to come out over the weekend. "To update people who have been in this movement since the 70s, and the new people what's going on and how to get involved," said Patton.

The festival Saturday will have musicians, street vendors, a place to pick up pride swag, and a kid-friendly area with games and a bouncy house.
