Rapid City police were hopping on fireworks calls

If you had the impression that the Independence Day weekend was a little loud, Rapid City police would probably agree with you.

Patrol officers stayed extremely busy this weekend responding to a couple hundred calls about fireworks in city limits.  There were 60 firework calls Thursday, 149 on Friday, followed by 52 Saturday.  Police wrote three warnings and issued one citation due to fireworks, which are illegal in city limits.

Pennington County Sheriff's Office deputies handled a number of firework calls too.  Deputies handled 64 complaints.

Sunday was the last day you could legally use fireworks until the New Year's holiday period, Dec. 28-31.
