Edgemont's Redneck Rally brings out mud-drag racers and fans

It was all mud slinging and speed-racing action at the Redneck Rally July 4,5, and 6.

Michael Cearns, a mud-drag racer, says a lot of work goes into competing as a mud drag racer. "It's a lot of time and money," said Cearns. He has had his car for three years, and it took him six months to get it ready for this weekend's competition.

Kevin Eberle, racer and a rally coordinator, says the Redneck Rally is a good and dirty Edgemont tradition that started eight years ago. "It started with mud bogging and some events downtown and its grown," said Eberle. "It's racing just like drag racing on asphalt or track, just another version of racing; the way to get adrenaline."
Eberle, who drives the 'Snot Rocket' says these are passionate racers. "It starts as a hobby, and turns into an obsession, because there's no money in it but it sure is fun," said Eberle.

Other events at the Redneck Rally included mud volleyball, tractor and lawnmower racing.
