Summer time for many means vacations and lots of traveling. For the Rapid City Regional Airport it means increased numbers of passengers.
In May the airport had 24,570 people boarding and 25,259 people flying in to Rapid City. Peter Girtz, the Interim Airport Executive Director, says that their numbers show an increase in the number of people boarding planes with an average load of about 78 percent. He also says that the passenger forecast for the rest of the summer looks very strong and that they are in store for a great year.
The airport has recently added new flight schedules to be able to serve even more people throughout the summer season.
