Tenth wettest June in Rapid City


Think it was a wet June? A REALLY wet June??? You're right.

With Saturday's last rainfall of the day, we barely made it to the 10th wettest June in Rapid City, receiving 6.05" for the month in town. The wettest was 1947 with 9.07" for the month.

At the airport, the rain came in as the 8th wettest June. Wettest at the airport was 7.00" in 1968. This year the airport received 5.25".

Average June rain in town is 3.16".

The outlook for July is for cooler and wetter than normal conditions. However, thunderstorms will be less frequent for the first week of June. Our best chance is Thursday night and Friday afternoon. Average rainfall in July is 1.85"
