Not much change after District 33 voting recount

The results are in and not much has changed. A recount confirms Phil Jensen as the winner of the District 33 Senate Republican primary election.

While the votes in Meade County remained the same after the recount, in Pennington County, Jensen lost two votes and rival David Johnson lost one. This gave Jensen in the recount 29 more votes over Johnson.

The three lost votes were due to improperly stamped ballots. According to Pennington County Auditor Julie Pearson, the red stamps are required on all ballots as an added control measure and since the three ballots were missing that stamp, they could not be counted in the recount.

David Johnson was unavailable for comment.

In the June primary, Jensen edged out Johnson with a 1,234 to 1,204 vote.

Jensen will face Senate Democratic candidate Robin Page in the November election.
