The railroad crossing work on Mount Rushmore Road shifts Rapid Transit Bus System traffic through downtown Rapid City and that steers the Summer Nights celebration in a different direction.

Starting tonight, June 19, Summer Nights will be temporarily reconfiguring the layout to allow buses to run efficiently; as well as easing overall traffic congestion.  The event stage will be angled at the corner of Main and Seventh Streets. No part of the event will take place on the 700 block of Main Street.

Vehicles will be allowed to make westbound right turns onto Main Street from Seventh Street until 6:30 p.m.  That is when the intersection will be closed.  A crossing guard will be stationed in this area at all times to ensure pedestrian safety.

Summer Nights will return to its permitted event layout after construction on Mount Rushmore Road is complete.
