High school students kick start career at a Sheridan nursing camp

The Wyoming Simulation Center kicks off its “Dream Big -Be a Nurse” Summer Camp this week in Sheridan, Wyoming.

The Wyoming Simulation Center is a 5,000 square foot mock hospital that gives high school students interested in nursing a place to learn about health care and get a kick start in their career.

The summer camp has two sessions with 24 high school students who are from Sheridan County and surrounding areas. The students are able to participate in hands-on activities such as basic nursing care, CPR and First Aid, medical injections, labor and delivery and much more.

Camper Lana Tormanen, says that she’s excited about the opportunity and hopes to go into the nursing field after high school.

“I joined it because I’ve always wanted to do something in the medical field like nursing and I like it, it shows you the different options you can have in nursing,” Tormanen said.

The Dream Big- Be a Nurse sessions will continue from 8:30 am- 3:30 pm all week until June 19th .
