Construction on the Memorial Park Promenade is going quite well.
Dan Senftner, president of Destination Rapid City, said the main fountain is already complete and running, the arch will be up in a couple of weeks, and the playground equipment will be in by July for the Legacy Commons playground.
With help from the city Senftner are hoping to establish parking at the old tennis courts just on the parks west side. Senftner said he feels parking is a big part of the project. "We feel that with the promenade and the legacy commons play area that parking is going to really be needed for the local and visitor alike," he said. "We're going to have a lot of moms and dads and kids in strollers so parking is a big thing."
Completion of the promenade is set for August. Legacy Commons will be completed by October.
