West Boulevard Neighborhood Association holds festival despite the rain

Umbrellas and rain jackets were all the rage at an outdoor festival Saturday.

The 38th annual West Boulevard Neighborhood Association's "Summer Festival" was going strong, rain or shine, at Wilson Park. This festival is the largest source of fundraising for the association, which uses the money to benefit neighborhood improvement projects.

With more than 100 vendors this year, Jane Holeton, event organizer, says it's one of the largest ones yet. Vendors are both local and from neighboring states. They offer unique crafts, garden supplies, jewelry and food. "Everything is new! There are about 32 new booths," said Holeton. "That's unbelievable."

Eric Sharpe has come to the festival before, and he says he wasn't going to let the rain stop him. "We just want to be outside. That's why we live here and it's nice to see people out doing this," said Sharpe. "They're out here in the rain so we might as well be too."
You can enter yourself into a KOTA Care and Share raffle at the festival, which raises money to feed the hungry. The festival goes Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m..
