Rapid City contractor breaks ground on Martin IHS clinic

Members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe will soon have access to an Indian Health Service clinic at Martin. There was a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for the LaCreek District Clinic.

It will provide daily outpatient care, a pharmacy, laboratory, gynecology and obstetrics clinic, diabetes clinic and a children's mental health clinic.  Right now tribe members need to drive 45 miles to Pine Ridge or 36 miles to Kyle for health care.

The new Indian Health Service clinic is south of the Martin Volunteer Fire Department.  J. Scull Construction has the one million contract for the LaCreek Clinic.
