30th Golden Coyote training underway

The South Dakota National Guard begins its 30th annual Golden Coyote training exercises this week.
The Black Hills summer camp runs through June 21, providing realistic challenges to prepare the 4,400 troops participating for overseas combat and homeland defense operations.

Forty-Five military units from 15 states are teaming up with allied troops from four foreign nations.

In addition to simulated military maneuvers, the troops will perform humanitarian missions and complete Black Hills National Forest and Custer State Park projects that will benefit the public.
The Guard advises regional motorists to watch out for the beefed up military traffic that will affect travel around Ellsworth Air Force Base, Rapid City, Hill City and Custer for the next two weeks.
