Congresswoman Kristi Noem addresses sex trafficking to Rotarians

Congresswoman Kristi Noem stressed the importance of ending sex trafficking in America at a stop in Rapid City Thursday.

Noem spoke to members of the Rapid City Rotary Club. She says that the victims, usually women and children, may be as young as 12 and that there are as many as 100,000 children who are victims of sex trafficking every year in the United States.

In South Dakota, more than 100 people are exploited every year.

The Rotarians invited Noem because of her outstanding record on social issues.

"Any time that we have the opportunity to have a state or national leadership in to talk with us about the issues in the community, our country, and around the world, we like to have them come in and talk about those things with us." said Rotary Club President Ben Watson.

Congresswoman Noam will speak again tomorrow at the Pennington County Commissioners Meeting.
