World champion barefoot water skier teaches water ski clinic in KOTA Territory

A world champion water skier made a stop in KOTA territory to teach a barefoot water ski clinic. Barefoot water skiing is water skiing without the skis.

Keith St. Onge is a world class barefoot water skier and he said there's no better feeling than being out on the water. "You're cruising across the water on your bare feet, think about it," said St. Onge.

St. Onge brings his expertise in this difficult, fast paced water sport to the Pactola Reservoir for a skills clinic. The ski clinic is for a sport where technique is everything, said St. Onge. "Your technique has to be prefect. Your ankles have to be directly beneath you knees and you have to a good position because if you don't you'll fall."
St. Onge said the most difficult thing about barefoot water skiing is being on such a small surface - your feet. He said he has mastered the challenges over the years and has been successful. "I've competed since the age of 10," said St. Onge. "And I have 14 national overall titles and 13 world titles so it's been a part of my life a long time."

Sharing his life long passion with others is what St. Onge said is the best part of his job. "You never know when they are going to find their true passion or their love for water skiing."

The ski clinic at Pactola wraps up Friday. St. Onge will be in Aberdeen next week for another barefoot water ski clinic.
