Correction: Bob Evans to face Jeff Shannon in fall election

Posted:
Fall River county elected Hot Springs Police Chief Bob Evans as the GOP candidate to run in November.  Evans won the election with 39 percent of the votes Tuesday.

Incumbent Rich Mraz was up against Evans and former Sheriff Deputy Scott Davis for the seat. Mraz garnered 22 percent of the votes and Davis, 37 percent of the votes.

In an interview with KOTA Territory in April, Evans said the public approached him to run for sheriff.

He was born and raised in Hot Springs, says he knows the ins-and-outs of the community, and has been in law enforcement for 20 years.

One of the issues he plans to address is building a new jail.

Evans will run against Independent candidate, Jeff Shannon in the fall.
