Gillette man killed in rollover accident

Brandon Montgomery, age 26, of Gillette was killed on Thursday when the vehicle he was driving left WYO 387 about nine miles west of Wright and rolled several times.

Montgomery, who was not seat belted at the time of the crash was ejected during the rollovers.   Investigators believe fatigue may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, one vehicle rollovers where occupants are not seat belted continue to be the most common type of crash in Wyoming resulting in serious injury or death.  Modern vehicles are designed to withstand fairly violent damage while maintaining a passenger compartment which will allow occupants to survive provided they remain in the passenger compartment, which is what seat belts are designed to do.
