Local artists are 'paying it forward' to the Rapid City Club For Boys.
The 12th annual art auction is a time when local artists are vetted, and their work goes on the auction block. It begins Tuesday June 3rd at 6 p.m in the Dahl Arts Center.
It is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year.
The art on display will go to the highest bidder, but more importantly, the money raised will support programs such as 'Fund-a-Need' which raises money for the club's nutrition program.
Special Events Coordinator, Carrie Redmond, said participation in Tuesday's auction is crucial to keeping the lights on.
"When you consider our members pay $12 a year to join the club, it cost more than $12 to send them here a year. That's what we charge them and we've got to make up that money through special events , some small grants, things like that to actually keep the lights on," said Redmond.
Last year the event raised $82,000.
