U.S. Senate Candidate Larry Rhoden on the issues

Last week we ran stories from our KSFY sister station that introduced our viewers to the many candidates running for U.S. Senate. Because of a miscommunication with KSFY, Senator Larry Rhoden (R-District 29) was left out of the bunch.

Monday, KOTA-TV sat down with Rhoden, who says he's the best candidate for the job because of his many years in the legislature.

In our survey USA poll, we asked: "I the election for U.S. Senator, which one issue will be most important in deciding how you vote?" Of the 504 people polled, 35% (the majority of people polled) said the economy. Rhoden says the economy is a symptom of an out of control government. "Who thinks they know best how to spend our money," said Rhoden. "And I think Obamacare is one of the key examples of that. Obamacare alone will consume 1/5 of our total budget."

Speaking of health care, 30% of those surveyed said health care was the issue they would be voting on in the U.S. Senate race. Rhoden says Obamacare is a massive over-reach of government. "We shouldn't try to fix it, we should try to repeal it," said Rhoden. "And replace it with free market solutions that we've talked about in the past, but we've never really put rubber to the road."

Rhoden says if elected, one of the first things he'd establish is legislative oversight to stop the Obama Administration's government overreach.

Here are the KSFY stories, featuring other candidates for U.S. Senate:
