Rapid City fire kills one person

Rapid City - The Rapid City Police Department, Rapid City Fire Department, and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a man after a shed fire Sunday night.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on June 1, a Pennington County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed smoke coming from a shed on the property at 1803 Sioux Avenue. The Rapid City Fire Department extinguished the fire, and a deceased male subject was found inside. He is not a resident of the home.

The RCPD and PCSO are currently working to identify the man and his cause of death. The RCFD is investigating the cause of the fire. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

A Sunday night fire in Rapid City reportedly killed a person.

According to Jason Meyers, a witness, the fire most likely started in the garage and quickly spread to the home; which is on the corner of East Saint Patrick Street and Cherry Avenue.
