"Dino" the dinosaur turns 77

A long time Rapid City resident had a birthday on Sunday.

"Dino" the dinosaur turns 77-years-old. The big dinosaur that sits on top of the hill overlooking the city was dedicated in 1937.

Sunday’s celebration included a birthday cake and a host of fun activities for kids to enjoy including a scavenger hunt, face painting, and a fossil dig.

Eileen Fleishacker, Chairman of the Board of the Rapid City Parks Foundation, said she wants people to know about some of the enhancements being made to the park.

They include the installation of a handicap–accessible path and more interactive stations for visitor to use.
