Sturgis Middle School's construction-completion date pushed back

Sturgis Middle School's sixth graders may have to wait a bit longer to get back into their classrooms. After October's storm extensively damaged the roof of Sturgis Middle School, the students were moved to other schools.

Now the project is nearing completion. But, the completion date on the $3 million construction project has been pushed back to October 1st, 2014 because some supplies are on back order. The principal says most of the funding is coming from insurance.

But only the sixth graders will have to wait. The west side of the building will be ready for seventh and eighth graders and staff August 15, just in time for school to begin on August 25.

Along with the roof repair, the school is making some updates. An air conditioning system will be put in and the plan is to move the office to the front of the building for a more secure campus.
