Sturgis hit with rainfall causing flooding

Last night Sturgis was slammed with intense rainfall. Images from the Meade County Town Hall Facebook page show streets and drainage areas were filled with water. But by this morning much of the water had drained off.

Dorothy Olson who lives near a flood plane says she is concerned about more rainfall. "Well we wondered how high the water was going to get and it went higher than we've ever seen it go," said Olson. "And we only had three inches of rain so if we had six or seven we would really be in a mess."
Meade County's Emergency Management Director Angella Sutton, says people should avoid flooded roads, move to higher ground and keep children away from flood waters. She also says that people in flood prone areas should have an emergency plan.
