Rapid Chevrolet on the move

By Barrett Phillips

In October, Rapid Chevrolet-Cadillac on Deadwood Avenue will move to a new location on East Mall Drive just across from Toyota of the Black Hills.

Jerry Jasinski, who owns both dealerships, said he decided to build because renovating the old building would disrupt business.

The new location will also be home to the body shop (which is currently at Rapid Chevrolet) to make for easier customer service.

The new lot will hold 900 cars and the building will be 80 thousand square feet.

Jasinski said it was good timing for an upgrade.

"The building out on Deadwood Avenue was built in the 70's and hasn't changed dramatically. We've added some other ancillary services out there, but it's still the basic dealership that was there in the 70's," said Jasinski.

Nearby Adams I.S.C (Industrial supply company) has recently been expanding their business. They have 61 employees and are hiring 4 to 6 more. Adams I.S.C. purchased the current Rapid Chevrolet lot for over $3 million. The move will allow room to expand.
