Services set for Crazy Horse CEO, Ruth Ziolkowski

Crazy Horse Memorial Services will be held here May 26th and 27th celebrating the life of Ruth Ziolkowski, CEO of Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation since 1982.   Ziolkowski died of cancer this week.  She was 87.

There will be a public viewing on Monday, May 26, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the studio of the original log home built by Ruth and her sculptor husband Korczak in 1948.  Admission fees will be waived during this time.  The home is open year round to visitors of the Memorial and contains art, antiques and heirlooms.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, May 27 at the Memorial beginning at 10:00 am.  Guests are encouraged to come early.  Services are open to friends and the public and admission fees will be waived 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for the event.

Ruth Ross came to the Black Hills in 1948 with a group of supporters to help sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski carve a mountain tribute to Native Americans.  The pair married in 1950 and raised 10 children at the Memorial, never wavering from the work on the Mountain or the development of humanitarian efforts for the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation.  Korczak died in 1982 and Ruth had been CEO ever since.
