People close to Ruth Ziolkowski celebrate her life

Crazy horse was filled with tourists on Thursday, but there was a somber tone as people remembered Ruth Ziolkowski. People say her legacy was bigger than the monument itself.

One of those people who is mourning is Rollie Noem. Noem worked on staff at crazy horse for ten years. He resigned from a leadership position and now stepped in as a spokesperson for Ruth's family during this time.

Noem says Ruth is an icon and her legacy will live on. He says she was optimistic and had faith in the future.

"She lived each day with great purpose and a strong spirit. She was a very inspirational person to be around," said Noem.

Noem says Crazy Horse will go on as planned to fulfill Ruth's monumental dream.
