Black Hills Artist, Richard DuBois died at his home in Rapid City Wednesday, he was 73.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
There will be a public viewing Wednesday, May 28 from 5pm-7pm at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City.
The funeral is Thursday, May 29 at Calvary Lutheran Church at 1pm.
Friends and family are invited to a public reception at the Colonial House Restaurant Thursday at 3pm.
According to his website, DuBois attended the University of Wyoming, earning a Master of Arts Degree in Art. He continued post-graduate study in at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. DuBois taught studio art at Black Hills State University.
According to his website DuBois received numerous awards throughout the years for his work, including the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce Award for Liberal Arts Professional, 2004, BHSU's Alumni Association's 2005 Excellence in Education Award, Spearfish High School Fine Arts Outstanding Alumni Award, 2007, BHSU's Outstanding Alumni Award, 2008, the Allied Arts Fund "Heart for the Arts Award" in 2009, and numerous Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Awards in the Northern Plains Watercolor Society Annual Competition.
