The Rapid City Council unanimously voted yes on the second reading for an amendment of an ordinance for adult oriented businesses.
Several people urged council members to vote yes. And they listened. This now means Rapid City's lone strip club, Shotgun Willies, will have to remove its door that leads to private dance room.
The amended ordinance requires adult oriented businesses to provide an unobstructed view in patron permitted areas. Those in favor of the amendment say this is best for the community.
"I can't imagine anyone on either side of the issue of amending our AOB ordinance who would attempt to make a case of adult oriented businesses being a benefit in strengthening thriving families," said Dale Bartscher, Executive Director of the Family Heritage Alliance.
Shotgun Willie's owner, Aaron Johnson, did not make any comments Monday, other than saying he would be there if council members had questions for him.
Last week, he suggested the city allow cameras to monitor activity behind the door.
