Rapid City business trades with China

Governor Dennis Daugaard and business people who went on the 2014 Trade Mission to China are back. One Rapid City business was supposed to go on the trip but couldn't. That didn't stop them from trading with China.

Justin Durand, Badger State Recovery General Manager, says even though the trip to China didn't work out they were able to make contacts. Now they are sending their products to China.

They have already sent 600 tons of recycled cardboard and various paper grade products, and they are sending 12 semi loads of products to China.

Durand says this venture is important for his business.

"By working with China, they are the number one buyer of fiber products whether it be cardboard or various grades of recycled paper and for us what it allows us to is it comes with higher markets and higher market returns for us," said Durand.

Currently there are seven employees at Badger State Recovery. Durand says they'll probably expand in the near future and have a second shift.
