Deadwood to decide on Stagecoach

The City of Deadwood will decide on May 19 whether to allow a stagecoach on city streets.

Deadwood Mayor Chuck Turbiville appointed two city council members to meet with those requesting the lease for the stagecoach to answer a number of questions.

The questions needing answers are; how much insurance would be required to run the stagecoach. Turbiville says some ordinances require $1 million, the city is looking at $2 million, but city advisers say $5 million in insurance is needed.

There are also questions on what the hours and days of operation would be, the number of people allowed on the ride and where the staging area would be located.

The group will present a written proposal to the city meeting on Monday, May 19. Mayor Turbiville says a final decision on the stagecoach will be made then.
