Downtown art gallery unveils its Spring collection of artwork

    Downtown Rapid City has quickly become the center of the city's art scene, and now there is even more new artwork to be viewed.
    The Suzie Kappa Art Center unveiled its spring showing Thursday with an open house.
    The non–profit center gives local artists of all abilities the opportunity to display, and possibly even sell some of their artwork.
    The Spring Fling Open House currently features a variety of mediums of art from some of Black Hills Works talented group of artists.
    Also being showcased are 7 art students from Oglala Lakota College, as well as the center's 2013 Artist of the Year, Michael Leithauser. Suzie Kappa Art Center Director Brad A.Winter says they are always excited to open their doors to the public and show off their newest pieces of artwork, "We want to change out the gallery every so often to get new people in and see all the new artwork that goes up. The artists are really busy here making, creating new pieces of artwork, so we want to show their new pieces off."
    The current collection being will remain in the gallery on display through the month of July.
