Phone scammer targeting Pennington County

The Pennington County Sheriff's Office is investigating claims that a man is calling people claiming to work for the Sheriff's Office warrants division. The caller is reportedly asking people to make payments over the phone to avoid being arrested for an alleged outstanding juror summons warrant.
However, the Sheriff's Office does not call people in that situation, rather to clear warrants people are asked to turn themselves in at the warrants division of the Sheriff's Office.
The Rapid City Police Department is investigating this phone scam.
If you receive a call asking for payment for a warrant charge you are asked to contact the Police Department at 605-394-4131 or the Pennington County Sheriff's Office at 605-394-2151.
