The twelfth annual Suicide Awareness Walk and Fun Run was held Saturday at the Old Storybook Island in Rapid City.

Stephanie Dixon, executive director of Front Porch Coalition, says more than 50 runners and more than 100 walkers participated in the event. The event brings together people who have lost loved ones to suicide.
"You can never really bring closure for somebody who's gone through this and lost somebody. Although it helps, kind of, that circle of grief and really moves someone through the healing process," said Dixon.

Ten to fifteen years ago, Front Porch Coalition started a life keeper quilt were people can place a picture, date of birth, and poem or saying for those who have either died from or survived suicide.
