Brian Maliske resigns as Civic Center General Manager

The Board of Directors of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center has regretfully accepted the resignation of Brian Maliske, General Manager.

Maliske has served the City of Rapid City for the past 20 years, including thirteen years as General Manager of the RPCC. He played a pivotal role in the promotion, effective operation, and sustained growth of the municipal facility and was instrumental in numerous renovations and expansions, including: the Rushmore Hall North and Food Court additions, construction of the ice arena, and the remodeling of LaCroix Hall, energy plant and the Fine Arts Theater.

For the past two years, Maliske has actively endorsed the replacement of the aged Don Barnett arena.  Now that the proposal process is underway, he said he is ready for the next challenge.

"Brian is one of those people who are almost irreplaceable. His skilled leadership has been crucial to the growth experienced by the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center over the past thirteen years. While we regret his decision, we have no doubt Brian will excel in any endeavor he pursues,” said Board Chair Jeff Bailie.

Maliske plans to spend the summer traveling.  His resignation as General Manager is effective June 6, 2014.
