It is just a measly 1 percent but hey … it’s 1 percent in the right direction.  After months of declining revenue, Deadwood’s gaming industry posted a 1.16 percent hike in monthly revenue for March.

Total gross revenue for March was $8,475,346; up from last year’s $8,378,112.  Still down, however, is the handle … what gamblers are willing to wager on the tables and in the slots.  This March, the handle was $89,082,709.  That is down 2.2 percent from March 2012 when gamblers anted up $91,084,792.

Deadwood is working on attempts to revive public interest in gambling but results won’t be known for some time.  New multi-state progressive slots have recently been added and this November, voters will decide on adding roulette, craps and keno in Deadwood casinos.  This is Constitutional Amendment Q.
