Rapid City police investigate double stabbing

There was a good reason a driver didn’t stop at a red light and ignored a Rapid City patrol officer’s attempt to pull him over early Tuesday morning … two people in the SUV had been stabbed.

A patrol officer saw a driver run a red light at Fifth and Meade Streets; then followed the SUV to Regional Hospital where two men (both with several stab wounds) got out of the car.  That’s when a third man in the vehicle jumped into the driver’s seat and took off.  Police caught Quintez Provancial a couple of blocks from the hospital.  The 26-year-old Rapid City man was arrested for false personation and eluding police.

The two stabbing victims, a 23-year-old and 26-year-old, are being treated for serious injuries.

Police community relations specialist Tarah Heupel says the investigation is continuing.
