KOTA Territory churches prepare for an early morning Easter celebration

Easter Sunday won't be a day to sleep in for those attending the 69th Annual Easter Sunrise Celebration at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. People will be up, bright and early tomorrow at Mount Rushmore for a special church service at the amphitheater.

The Congregation of the Hills Parish, that includes Hermosa United Church of Christ and Keystone Congregational United Church of Christ, will host the event that will include music, prayer and a sermon.

Pastor Ron Walker, of the Little White Church in Hill City, will be leading the prayer and he says it's an unique experience.
"The ambience is great, nothing like being at Mount Rushmore for an event," said Pastor Walker. "But what I hope people get out of it is a renewed and deepened appreciation for what Jesus Christ did for them on the cross."

The service begins at 7 a.m. People are encouraged to get there early for parking.
If you can't make it out to Mount Rushmore, there are other sunrise services going on in KOTA Territory. The Sturgis Alliance of Churches is having a sunrise service at Bear Butte Lake Shelter at 6 a.m. The Rapid City United Methodist Church is also hosting one at 6 at Main Street Square. And the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church will be hosting a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m.
