Rapid City man is arrested after standoff with police

A Rapid City man is in custody after breaking into a home which resulted in a standoff. Police say 37-year-old Lawrence Boise broke into a mobile home near South Valley Drive and Orchard Lane around 2:30 Thursday afternoon.

They say he then barricaded himself inside the home. The Special Response Team was able to enter the house after six this evening and they arrested Boise.

During the incident, the street was blocked off and police say they wanted to make sure everyone was safe.

"Anyone that is in any kind of danger, any kind of harm we are dealing with. We are either evacuating or talking to them about staying in their house," said Captain James Johns, of the Rapid City Police Department.

Boise has three outstanding warrants, and other charges are pending.
